Quality Assistant – Compounding Pharmacy

Reports To: Quality Manager
Position Summary
The Quality Assistant supports the Quality Assurance program of the compounding pharmacy by assisting with documentation, compliance activities, audits, and quality processes. This role helps ensure all pharmacy operations comply with USP standards, state and federal regulations, and internal quality policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to patient safety and regulatory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining and organizing quality documentation, including SOPs, logs, and records
- Support compliance with USP 795, 797, 800, and applicable state and federal regulations
- Assist with internal audits, inspections, and regulatory visits
- Monitor and track training records and competency assessments
- Assist with deviation, incident, and corrective action documentation (CAPAs)
- Help maintain environmental monitoring, cleaning logs, and equipment records
- Support change control processes and document updates
- Assist pharmacists and leadership with quality‑related projects
- Maintain document control and ensure current versions are accessible
- Report quality concerns or potential compliance issues to management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, laboratory, or regulated environment preferred
- Knowledge of USP standards and pharmacy regulations a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow written procedures accurately
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on quality improvement
- Dependable, professional, and safety‑focused
Physical & Work Requirements
- Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
