Environmental Specialist II at the Florida Department of Health manages site rehabilitation of petroleum and other pollutant-contaminated sites under the SUPER Act Program for seven counties in Northwest Florida. The role requires technical expertise in hydrogeology, environmental geology, and project management to evaluate contamination assessments, prepare approvals and permits, and coordinate with site owners and consultants to ensure regulatory compliance.
Key qualifications- Knowledge of Florida hydrogeology and petroleum contamination assessment and remediation
- Skilled in petroleum cleanup site management and use of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to analyze and interpret scientific data and communicate effectively in writing
- Valid Driver's License required; HAZWOPER Certification (29 CFR ) required or obtainable within six months
- Ability to conduct field inspections and maintain effective working relationships with diverse professionals
- Skilled in independently planning, organizing, and coordinating complex workload to meet strict deadlines
