Job Overview:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs across the hotel, ensuring the smooth operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This role requires a hands‑on individual with technical expertise who can troubleshoot issues, perform general repairs, and maintain the physical integrity of the hotel’s facilities. The Maintenance Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring guest satisfaction by maintaining a clean, safe, and fully operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General Maintenance & Repairs:
    • Perform routine inspections and repairs of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
    • Troubleshoot issues with equipment, systems, and appliances, identifying problems and executing timely repairs.
    • Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas are properly maintained and in good working order.
    • Conduct minor carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs as needed.
    • Ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to minimize disruption to hotel operations and guests.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Assist in executing the hotel’s preventive maintenance program by regularly inspecting systems and equipment.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and report any significant issues to the Chief Engineer.
    • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and systems are functioning at optimal levels to prevent breakdowns.
    • Identify potential issues before they become major problems and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Guest Requests & Service:
    • Respond to guest complaints and service requests related to room maintenance (e.g., plumbing issues, lighting repairs, heating/cooling adjustments).
    • Ensure all guest requests are handled professionally, with minimal disruption, and in a timely manner.
    • Work collaboratively with the front desk and housekeeping teams to address guest needs and enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory standards while performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Identify and mitigate any safety hazards in guest areas, equipment rooms, and back‑of‑house facilities.
    • Assist in ensuring that all equipment and systems are compliant with local and national building codes.
    • Participate in safety training sessions and emergency preparedness drills to ensure readiness in case of incidents.
  • Inventory & Supplies:
    • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, and notify the Chief Engineer of any required reorders.
    • Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring they are properly stored and readily available when needed.
    • Help manage and maintain the hotel’s maintenance logs, ensuring all activities are properly documented.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, such as housekeeping and front desk, to ensure smooth hotel operations.
    • Communicate effectively with the Chief Engineer and other team members to provide updates on ongoing repairs, maintenance needs, and completed tasks.
    • Attend regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on hotel operations and safety procedures.
  • Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical certifications in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or a related field are preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably within the hospitality industry.
    • Familiarity with building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical operations.
    • Experience with basic carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks.
