Career Advisor
A local company in Pensacola, Florida is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Career Advisor to join their team. Career Advisors provide direct support to participants in the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program (NCPEP). They help non-custodial parents overcome barriers to employment, connect with workforce resources, and achieve self-sufficiency. Career Advisors work closely with the NCPEP Program Coordinator, employers, and community partners to ensure participants receive individualized guidance and support.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct intake and orientation for program participants.
- Provide individualized career counseling, including career exploration, goal setting, and job readiness planning.
- Develop and monitor participant employment plans, addressing barriers such as skills gaps, transportation, and childcare.
- Connect participants to training, education, and community support services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records in compliance with program guidelines.
- Collaborate with local employers to identify job openings suitable for program participants.
- Support participants in preparing for interviews and securing employment.
- Maintain strong relationships with employers to ensure job retention and career advancement opportunities.
- Participate in community events and informational sessions to recruit eligible participants.
- Serve as a liaison between participants, employers, and workforce development partners.
- Ensure all participant documentation meets federal, state, and local program requirements.
- Provide regular reports to the NCPEP Program Coordinator on participant progress and outcomes.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or related field preferred.
- Experience in workforce development, case management, or employment services.
- Experience working with non-custodial parents or individuals involved in the child support system is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and motivate participants.
- Knowledge of local workforce development resources and programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Tier One Certification in Workforce Professional Development may be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
- Travel within Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties is required.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary for outreach events or employer meetings.
- For this position, you will be paid $17.40/hour.
- Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
- Contract to hire position.
