Job SummaryOperates a forklift and other material handling equipment in the receipt warehousing and shipping of stock and supplies.
Responsibilities- Operate forklift capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds up to 168 inches to move load or unload transfer, stack, or unstack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials, and supplies from one location to another.
- Perform warehouse duties: select stock for shipment or transfer; verify information against shipping documents; remove stock from stacks or bins; move items to designated locations; receive merchandise; unload trucks; check items against receiving documents; report discrepancies; store stock per instructions; sign for received merchandise; palletize or bulk stock; restack and straighten items; sort bad containers; periodically check bays and bins for mixed stock or incorrect locations;
assist in inventory. - Load vans for shipment overseas, checking weighings, arranging, selecting merchandise according to established methods and procedures.
- Work under general supervision of a designated supervisor, adhere to assignments and instructions; work checked for material arrangement and compliance.
Uses moderate physical effort while performing the various maneuvers involved in operating the forklift truck. Performs work on hard surfaces requiring standing, stooping, and bending in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Working ConditionsNormally works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty, and hot areas. Is subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting loads, and overturning of trucks.
Training RequirementAssociate must receive Hazardous Material (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
General ExperienceOne year of experience performing warehousing related duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, operation of manual material movement equipment, etc., or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.
Substitution of Education for ExperienceOne year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
Specialized ExperienceOne year of experience including work that demonstrated the ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in receipt warehousing and shipping of stock and supplies.
