Striping Machine Laborer

Description

The Roadway Pavement Marking and Striping Laborer 1 is required to perform temporary and permanent pavement marking application. This position requires a variety of tasks related to roadway striping and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures, and safety guidelines. Hiring:
Weekly pay, overtime available, open schedule required.

• Assist the Machine Operator with Highway Marking operations
• Able to layout for handwork
• Able to install preform thermoplastic and standard thermoplastic using hand liners
• Operate various types of pavement marking equipment
• Load and unload equipment and materials into and out of company trucks
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time during day or night shifts
• Assist with lane closures and set-up of traffic control devices
• Complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
• Available to work days, nights, and weekends
• Perform all other duties as assigned

• 3–5 years of pavement marking and traffic control or related industry experience (e.g., road construction, highway maintenance, construction)
• MOT Advanced certification

• Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or at a time, standing and walking for extended periods, loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces, and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
• Working from elevated platforms, ladders, or truck beds
• Operating hand and power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smartphones, physical agility to use arms, legs, and hands repetitively
• Working outdoors, safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions, including high‑speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes, and construction substances
• Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction sites, including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees, and construction activities
• Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
• Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands from supervisors at a distance, conversations in person, and over the telephone
• Communicating clearly—both written and verbally, and completing daily paperwork as required by supervisor
• Working a flexible schedule that may include day or night shifts, weekends, and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime, and working individually and as a team with other employees
• Valid driver’s license required; will require passing an MVR and a controlled‑substance test, may require background and criminal‑record checks, and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Must maintain company standards post‑employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record, and controlled‑substance/drug testing
