Job Summary

Leads a group of 3 or more route drivers ensuring work led complies with instructions and NEX policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Leads a minimum of 3 or more performing same work, ensuring sequence of operations are adhered to in accordance with NEX policies and procedures.
  • Provides input to supervisor regarding staffing needs, work methods, and changes in work assignments based on observation of the group’s performance.
  • Takes necessary action to ensure economical use and protection of supplies, tools, equipment and cash.
  • Ensures vending route instructions are passed on and sets the pace for accomplishing vending functions.
  • Answers questions on procedures, ensures schedules and priorities are adhered to, and informs supervisor of work assignments and issues.
  • Provides input to supervisor regarding work performance appraisals and leave requests to maintain staff levels needed to achieve workload.
  • Reviews route inventory over/short for machines and trucks.
  • Ensures all route and truck inventory is completed according to guidelines.
  • Inspects route machines to ensure adherence to vending policies (cleanliness, accurate pricing, expiration dates, calorie disclosure, etc.).
  • Operates a motor vehicle to transport merchandise, supplies and materials to and from Navy Exchanges and other designated locations using public roads and highways.
  • Loads and unloads vehicles as required; ensures cargo is properly located, distributed, secured and within capacity.
  • Prepares and maintains Daily Trip Report for all trips made.
  • Performs the same work as associates led.
  • Completes pre- and post-trip inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle or that day’s vehicle.
  • Inspects and replenishes merchandise.
  • Checks refrigerated machines to ensure health codes are adhered to (e.g., expiration dates) and removes expired foods or other merchandise from machines.
  • Sets up and maintains prices in machines and on items being sold; maintains a current price list.
  • Assists in relocating and installing new machines at locations; cleans interiors and exteriors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Makes settings and adjustments on food and liquid dispensing and coin changer units; prepares Cash Collection Slip SS 411.
  • Inspects and tests machines to ensure proper operation.
  • Clears minor discrepancies such as jams.
  • Collects monies from vending machines at locations according to established schedule.
  • As required, accompanies Vending Contractors verifying cash taken from contractor-owned machines.
  • Also collects cash from car wash soap and bleach and other miscellaneous items sold by machine.
  • Counts and prepares Vending Machine Cash Collection Slip SS 411 by date, type of machine, machine number, attendant name and cash meter readings.
  • Clears coin jams and makes refunds at designated locations.
  • Performs inspection of vehicle for proper maintenance (gas, oil, etc.).
  • Cleans vehicle and secures it in designated area at end of day.
  • Obtains receipt for all repairs and maintains records; performs preventive maintenance on vehicle.
  • May be assigned to clean and maintain the area where machines are located; sweeps, mops floors, cleans machines and empties trash cans.
  • Operates under general supervision of a designated manager who schedules and assigns work.
  • Carry out assignments within established policies, guides and procedures; refer unusual problems to manager for guidance and resolution.
  • Review adherence to policies, timeliness and efficiency of operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

Regularly lifts and transports moderately heavy objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Occasionally handles heavier items with assistance or equipment. Frequently stands and walks; handles light-weight objects.

Working Conditions

Work is performed both inside and outside. May be exposed to bad weather conditions while loading/unloading. Drives in all types of weather.

Job Requirements
