Overview
Acme Barricades is hiring for a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) laborer to perform temporary traffic control operations on a roadway construction project. The role involves maintaining traffic in a work zone while ensuring public safety and compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and lights in work zones
- Set up and maintain MOT activities including detours and lane closures
- Coordinate with on-site client representatives or officials
- Load/unload equipment and deliver/pick up equipment from customer jobsites
- Coordinate activities of traffic control laborers to ensure compliance with MOT guidelines
- Make recommendations on existing conditions to coordinate procedures for traffic maintenance
- Complete daily paperwork and reports as required by supervisor
- Operate a company vehicle if approved and maintain Motor Vehicle Record standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 1 year in Maintenance of Traffic / Temporary Traffic Control or related industry (e.g., road construction, highway maintenance)
- High School Diploma or GED

- If approved driver, valid license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Pass initial drug screening and background check
- Maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, driving record, and drug testing
- Capable of repeated physical effort including long periods of driving, standing, walking, and lifting at least 50 pounds; work from elevated platforms or truck beds; and operate in work zones around moving vehicles
- Operate hand/power tools and use keyboards and smartphones; maintain physical dexterity
- Maintain awareness of surroundings on construction sites and respect safety protocols
- Vision and hearing adequate to read signs and hear commands; safe outdoor work in varying environmental conditions
- Flexible schedule including potential night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; clear written and verbal communication
