Recruitment Range: $56,638.40-$65,837.20 annually, depending on knowledge and experience. Requires a Class A CDL
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Five (5) years of related experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a related or non-related supervisory capacity;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or
Certifications:
- Possession of an appropriate driver's license for equipment operated and any license, training, or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.
- Possession of Class A CDL.
Special Requirements
- Serve as emergency critical staffing during and after any emergency management event.
- Periodically participate in on-call rotations for Public Works emergency after-hours coverage.
- Periodically work special events.
Job Summary
The Roadway Maintenance Supervisor performs highly responsible administrative and supervisory work directing and participating in the activities of a major phase of City operations. An employee in this class is responsible for planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of employees. The department head or designee determines general policy, but the employee has considerable latitude to use discretion in establishing work priorities, schedules, and related assignments.
The employee will exercise independent judgment in carrying out assignments.
Essential Job Functions
- Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates work of employees, while also working alongside employees to complete tasks.
- Makes adjustments in assignments, procedures, and schedules.
- Participates in selection of personnel; trains and instructs employees, conducts employee performance evaluations, and addresses performance/disciplinary matters, ensuring all actions are documented and carried out in accordance with the Human Resources Policy Manual.
- Enforces safety rules and other accident prevention measures with self and employees as well as create and implement maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans in roadway work zones.
- Keeps daily digital operating records on labor, time, equipment, materials and costs, in the department's electronic asset management system, to generate reports and other metrics for management.
- Coordinates work assignments with other public works or city operations.
- Plans, schedules, organizes, and directs the maintenance and/or construction repairs of associated public works facilities such as pavement, signing and pavement markings.
- Coordination, inspection, and documentation for contract compliance of work by contractors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
