Job Description & How to Apply Below

About the role

As the PC-12 Captain, you will lead time-sensitive, life-saving transports under IFR, maintaining uncompromising standards for safety and compliance. You will ensure the aircraft is airworthy, weather and performance remain within limits, and every mission adheres to the FARs, the AIM, and the company General Operations Manual. You will operate within an assigned area out of Pensacola, FL, working closely with an elite medical crew to deliver the highest standard of care in the air.

What

you’ll do
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and legally as PIC, holding final authority over the safety of passengers, cargo, equipment, and the aircraft.
  • Conduct a detailed preflight inspection before every flight; complete and sign the Daily Flight Log to verify airworthiness; perform comprehensive walk-arounds before cockpit entry and after each flight.
  • Evaluate weather, NOTAMs, performance, and mission feasibility; execute precise IFR flight planning—often on short notice.
  • Maintain thorough familiarity with assigned and backup aircraft, including medical interiors and systems; ensure the medical team is comfortable and proficient with onboard systems.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time; participate in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
What you bring
  • Flight experience (fixed wing): 2,500 total hours; 2,000 hours in category (airplane); 1,000 hours PIC in category; 500 hours cross-country (≥50 at night); 500 hours turbine; 100 hours night; 100 hours actual instrument in category. Flown in category within the previous 24 months.
  • Certificates & ratings: Instrument rating for category and class (an ATP in category satisfies this); fixed‑wing multi‑engine rating for twin‑engine aircraft; commercial single‑engine land for the PC‑12.
  • Medical: Current FAA First or Second Class medical certificate.
  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school plus 2-5 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination (bachelor’s preferred).
  • Operational requirements: Able to serve as flight crew with weight not exceeding 250 lb and under 70 years of age.
  • Compliance mindset: Proven adherence to the FARs, AIM, and company General Operations Manual.
Pay & benefits
  • Base salary: $82,900-$93,251 annually
  • Additional compensation: $12,000 experience stipend; $3,000 IFR stipend; $30,000 base stipend; $15,000 sign‑on bonus
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage

  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Company‑paid life insurance and AD&D
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance
  • Business travel accident insurance
  • Voluntary legal plan
  • Relocation assistance
  • Employee assistance and benefit concierge services

All compensation elements are paid in addition to base salary where applicable and subject to company policy.

  • Shift length: 12‑hour shifts
