Job SummaryPerforms inventories of merchandise stock on hand. Reviews documents to determine overages, shortages, inspects storage locations, verifies merchandise count, and reviews receiving documents.
Duties and Responsibilities- Reviews the warehouse “Not In Stock” inventory list based on the count cycle; inspects each location to ensure all line items listed as zero are accurate and, if merchandise is found, counts the items and records the numbers on appropriate documents for supervisor processing.
- Reviews the merchandise transfer discrepancy report for differences in overages or shortages between quantities received at exchanges and amounts shipped from the warehouse.
- Reviews the warehouse extension report of cycle inventories to determine why the on‑hand figures differ from the physical inventory count, following established procedures.
- Conducts special physical inventory counts, when requested, to verify merchandise on hand.
- Reviews merchandise transfers against shipping documents to verify the accuracy of shipped amounts; verifies computer‑generated issue packs against warehouse issue packs and, where discrepancies are found, uses CRT to make necessary adjustments.
- Reviews the warehouse ranking report, which lists merchandise by frequency of movement, and recommends repositioning items within the warehouse to improve cube utilization and reduce handling cost.
- Receives warehouse addition/deletion notices and performs the following actions:
- ADDITION:
Depending on case size and estimated usage, assigns space for new items; ensures Telxon labels are acquired and placed on the new location. - DELETION:
For items on the deletion list, physically counts on‑hand inventory, forwards the count to the appropriate section, removes Telxon labels, and notates available space for new or other merchandise.
- ADDITION:
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who assigns tasks and provides instructions on procedures, priorities, and policies; work is performed within established guidelines and reviewed for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- May be required to operate a forklift and other material‑handling equipment as necessary in conjunction with performing job duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Associate must receive Hazardous Material (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
General ExperienceOne year of experience performing clerical or general office work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position.
Specialized ExperienceSix months of experience performing clerical or administrative support duties or similar work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position.
Substitution of Education for ExperienceOne half‑year of academic study above the high‑school level may be substituted for each six months of general and six months of specialized experience.
