Job Summary

The English Language Learner (ELL) teacher provides English language development instruction to children who are acquiring English as an additional language, working collaboratively with other instructional personnel, including a district‑wide team of ELL teachers, to meet the individual needs of each child.

Essential Functions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify students eligible for ELL Targeted and Integrated Instruction
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of ELLs across content areas
  • Assist school literacy team in analyzing and determining literacy needs specific to school staff and student population
  • Assist teachers in the use of assessment data
  • Administer initial language proficiency diagnostics (e.g., AZELLA) and use formative/summative assessments to track language growth and academic progress; collaborate with administrators and staff to further school‑wide goals
  • Plan and deliver lessons in English language development
