Qualifications:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Experience working with school-age children who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Proficiency in sign language and other modes of communication used by students
• Familiarity with creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration skills for working with educators, support staff, and families
• Compassion and adaptability in supporting diverse learning styles

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students, adapting lessons to fit individual needs
• Assess student progress and maintain thorough, confidential documentation
• Consult with classroom teachers to integrate modifications and support into general education or specialized programs
• Advocate for appropriate resources, communication access, and accommodations
• Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families as needed
• Provide guidance and training on deaf/hard of hearing issues for faculty and staff
