Your opportunity

One Permanent Full-Time Position.

Control Room Operator at Arlington Valley Facility, leading a 3-person team on a 12‑hour rotating shift. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 580MW Combined‑Cycle Power Plant and the operation of all plant equipment from the Control Room.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of all plant equipment including Gas and Steam Turbines, Generators, HRSGs, emissions monitoring, electrical systems, and all auxiliary balance‑of‑plant equipment using Turbine Control and Distributed Control Systems.
  • Operate and monitor plant equipment remotely, track key parameters (temperature, pressure, levels, vibration, water chemistry), and review operator rounds to verify performance and identify trends.
  • Issue permits such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work as required to authorize work.
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System to enter service requests and document the performance of assigned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Communicate plant conditions, especially when unusual or abnormal, to the Operations Manager and Lead Control Room Operator.
  • Assist with development of operational procedures and programs.
  • Perform general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facility’s appearance as required.
  • Assist with junior operator training.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, community, and the environment.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as a man‑lift and forklift when required.
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis of failures as required.
Education
  • Completed High School Diploma required.
  • Technical training related to the role is preferred.
Experience and Skills
  • Experience as a Control Room Operator for Combined‑Cycle Plants, preferably with GE 7FA combustion turbines and GE D11 steam turbines.
  • Experience with GE Mark VIe turbine control system and DeltaV balance‑of‑plant control system preferred.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry desirable.
  • Experience as an Operator in a power plant desirable.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed‑system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and inspection/recording of plant parameters highly desirable.
  • Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process control desirable.
Technical Skills
  • Solid ability to solve equipment, systems, and safety issues.
  • Gas Power Plant Operation and Maintenance experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of operating issues in a Gas Power Plant.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to foster a positive team environment.
Working Conditions
  • Safety‑sensitive heavy industrial facility.
  • Physical mobility required, including lifting, climbing, and use of PPE.
  • Rotating shift work required.
  • Primarily independent work in the Control Room with occasional outside work during maintenance activities.
  • Pay range $44 to $66 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
