Position Summary

Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an Environmental Engineer, responsible for managing all aspects of environmental compliance and waste handling for our OSAT facility. This includes hazardous and non‑hazardous waste streams, chemical management, permitting, and adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations (RCRA, EPA, TSCA, EPCRA, CERCLA). The role ensures safe, compliant, and sustainable waste management practices while supporting operational excellence and corporate sustainability goals.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with RCRA, EPA, TSCA, EPCRA, CERCLA, and state/local environmental regulations.
  • Maintain environmental permits and documentation for hazardous waste storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Oversee collection, segregation, recycling, and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste streams.
  • Manage chemical inventories and waste characterization processes.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports (e.g., TRI, EPCRA, CERCLA notifications).
  • Maintain accurate records of waste shipments, manifests, and compliance documentation.
  • Interface with waste disposal vendors and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure DOT compliance for hazardous waste transportation (49 CFR).
  • Develop strategies for waste minimization and recycling.
  • Implement best practices for environmental sustainability and ISO 14001 compliance.
  • Support spill response and corrective actions for environmental incidents.
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections of facility waste management practices.
  • Collect water and waste samples using EPA-approved methods for environmental assessments and permitting requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance or waste management (semiconductor or high‑tech industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, CERCLA, and Clean Air/Water Acts.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste handling, DOT regulations, and TSCA chemical inventory requirements.
  • Proficiency in environmental management systems and reporting tools.
Preferred Certifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) – Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Registered Environmental Manager (REM).
  • HAZWOPER (40‑hour).
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems knowledge.
  • OSHA Safety Certification.
Industry Standards & Compliance Knowledge
  • SEMI S2/S8 (Equipment Safety Standards).
  • ISO 14644 (Cleanroom Standards).
  • EPA and state discharge permits.
  • DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification (within 12 months of hire).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and adjust heavy objects.
  • Exposure to sharp, hot, and cold equipment.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.
Location

This position will be based at the Arizona Tempe and Peoria sites during the Construction phase and will transition to Peoria for management during the Factory Operation phase.
