What You Will DoUnder general supervision, collaborate with others to give direction on and improve performance of site Industrial Control Systems.
- Follows and promotes Freeport-Mc Mo Ran safety and environmental programs and practices, communicates safety implications related to Process Automation (PA) and directs Industrial Control System (ICS) cybersecurity practices and policies.
- Gives directions on Process Automation engineering topics and projects.
- Develops and participates in engineering project proposals, and engineering designs, and has ability to verify the quality of project work meets site Process Automation standards.
- Maintains the performance of ICT hardware and software. Identifies opportunities to implement process improvement and optimization through automation while improving Operator and Operations effectiveness.
- Participates in the implementation and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN) while maintaining plant performance, cyber security, and plant historian systems.
- Specifies and reviews specialized, analytical and advanced instrumentation solutions to be integrated into the site ICT.
- Implements Process Automation equipment life cycle management and develops plans proposals, and budgetary estimates to ensure equipment remains current and up to date.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering relevant to Process Automation, OR
- Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering relevant to Process Automation.
- Emerson Delta
V and Rockwell PLC experience - PLC, HMI, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) manufacture training or certification
- Experience with plant process historians or similar database storage and retrieval systems
- Experience with ICT/PCN network architecture, communication and security
- Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing and systems
- Familiarity with or training in NFPA 70 and NEC or Electrical Journeyman Training
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $90,000-$124,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
