Description
  • Develop, maintain, and update product standard costs, BOMs, and routings to ensure accurate and consistent cost data.
  • Compare standard costs to actual costs; investigate, analyze, and explain variances by product, part number, customer, and production job.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to maintain BOM accuracy, incorporating design changes, substitutions, and new product introductions.
  • Monitor raw material, labor, and overhead trends; assess their impact on product costs; and provide recommendations to management.
  • Produce daily, monthly, and ad hoc cost, variance, and production reports, including gross margin analysis by customer, part, and job.
  • Support new product development and launches by preparing cost estimates and analyzing impacts of design or process changes.
  • Study and collect data to determine costs of business activities including raw materials, inventory, and labor.
  • Perform inventory account reconciliations, cycle counts, and reserve analysis, monitor and report on inventory risks.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supplemental reports.
  • Support internal controls, cost accounting policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify inefficiencies, recommend process improvements, and enhance cost transparency.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of cost accounting or financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, cost drivers, and BOM management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and procedures in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Team player with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task at a high-level while being detail oriented
