Base pay range
$20.00/hr - $23.00/hr
Job DescriptionUnder the general supervision of the Operations Manager, the PSR will be responsible for scheduling, greeting patients, activating patient files, and for providing support to patients and medical staff. The PSR is responsible for explaining financial requirements to patients, collection of co-pay or payments for services at each visit and records payments. He/she is responsible for chart preparation, front desk activities, and patient / office relations including serving as front desk receptionist and a chaperone to providers.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Greets patients and families to the practice, provides necessary registration form to the patient for completion and signature, reviews same for accuracy, updates patient information in Nextgen (E.H.R.), and notifies staff that patient is ready.
- Efficiently and timely answers the phone and directs calls to the appropriate staff or records messages.
- Retrieves voicemail messages, routes calls appropriately, offering voicemail, paging, or redirection of calls as needed.
- Verifies correct insurance information via card, or phone call to the insurance company as appropriate.
- Explain financial requirements to patients, collection of co-pay or payments for services at each visit and records payments.
- Prints and advises patients of any outstanding balance and collection of this payment.
- Using practice management system appropriately to schedule, reschedule and cancel patient appointments.
- Maintains various logs of daily activity.
- Assists in chart preparation, clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
- Assists with the medical records by pulling and filing of charts as needed, makes charts for new patients, and files records in chart.
- Represents physician practice by providing excellent customer service.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Serves and protects the health care community by adhering to professional standards, compliance standards, practice policies, federal, state and local requirements.
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related tasks as requested.
- Utilizes computer systems for scheduling procedures and all other computer systems required for the listed job function.
- Serves as a chaperone to providers, when needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned by providers, coordinators and management in accordance with established office policy.
