Athletic Trainer - Surgical Specialty Clinic
Under the direction of a licensed physician or designee, the Athletic Trainer provides services including but not limited to prevention, recognition, examination, evaluation, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries. The role involves planning, administration, evaluation, and modification of methods for prevention and health promotion related to athletic injuries as well as education and counseling related to aspects of the practice of athletic training.
The person in this position works in conjunction with professional staff in providing services to the physically injured including evaluating, measuring, fabricating, fitting, and modifying orthopedic appliances. This work involves complex patient cases, and sensitive direct patient care situations within an age scope to include pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Annual Salary Range: $44,387.20 - $65,478.40
Qualifications
Education:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related exercise science field.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of athletic training-related experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Prefer experience in an operating room, physical therapy clinic, casting room, or similar experience.
Certification/Licensure:
Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC).
Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Arizona by the Board of Athletic Training.
A BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center is required at the time of hire.
Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety OR submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
Requires strong knowledge of clinical prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of acute or chronic injuries and with medical condition skills expected of an Athletic Trainer as defined by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and the State of Arizona Board of Athletic Training.
Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
Must demonstrate caring, commitment, integrity, and desire to continue learning.
Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g. formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to be able to successfully navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
