Job Description

The following position is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. All positions are onsite, unless otherwise stated.
The System Administrator II position requires working knowledge of Microsoft servers, deployment and configuration of server operating systems, backup systems on classified and unclassified networks, and monitoring over 2,000 workstations and servers using Army IA tools. Responsibilities include testing and deploying security updates, developing cybersecurity reports, creating application installation packages, maintaining workstation images, analyzing system logs, troubleshooting Windows OS and applications, performing automated and manual audits, managing O&M tasks in a virtual environment, host‑based security, storage systems, Active Directory, and applying Data Center best practices and DOD regulations.
The role supports IT projects and deployments, executes change orders, applies updates, implements security measures, documents processes, and provides excellent customer service.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required within six (6) months of hire.
- Successful completion of approved Computing Environment (CE) training within 6 months.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or three (3) years of relevant experience in Information Assurance, Cyber Security, or System Administration.
- Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex Data Center system issues.
- Highly motivated, self‑directed, able to set priorities, meet deadlines, follow through on complex projects, and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to multi‑task in a stressful, fast‑paced environment, highly organized, and willing to adapt to any situation.
- Pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screening, and periodic re‑screenings.
- Work long and varied hours and wear appropriate PPE.
- Frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods.
- Visually distinguish colors.
- Lift and transport up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Work in extreme weather conditions, including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice.
- Travel for off‑site duties up to 10% of time.
- Dependable transportation and means of communication.
- Punctual, responsible, reliable, trustworthy, and dependable.
- Use two‑way radios, email, and cellular phones for communication.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; convey information clearly to management, customers, coworkers, employees, and government officials in a professional, positive, and customer‑focused manner.
- Positive, well‑mannered customer service attitude; maintain that attitude at all times.
- Understand, follow, and enforce policies, instructions, regulations, etc.
- Work in a team setting, fostering teamwork and maintaining professional relationships with all team members and coworkers.
- Experience with server virtualization and server clustering.
- Project Management experience.
- Deployment, administration, and support of Linux Operating Systems.
- Experience with DOD STIGS for server operating systems.
- Network+ certified, or equivalent experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess or obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain clearance for the duration of employment.
- Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
- Relevance of experience to be determined by hiring manager.
- CompTIA Security+ certification required within six (6) months of hire.
Desired:
Network+ certified, or equivalent experience.
