PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading manufacturing company to hire a highly skilled Tool Maker
. This is an opportunity for a precision-driven professional to play a critical role in aerospace manufacturing—designing and building the tooling that keeps production accurate, efficient, and running at the highest standards.
As a Tool Maker, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the precision tooling that drives complex manufacturing processes. Your expertise in machining, measurement, and tooling design will directly impact product quality, equipment performance, and overall production success. This is a high-visibility role where craftsmanship and technical skill truly matter.
Key Responsibilities Tool Design, Fabrication & RepairDesign, build, repair, and modify dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and precision tooling
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and complex dimensions to meet exact tolerances
Troubleshoot worn or damaged tooling and perform rework, sharpening, and fitting
Support both scheduled and urgent tooling repairs to minimize downtime
Operate manual toolroom equipment including lathes, mills, and grinders
Use precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and comparators
Apply GD&T, shop math, geometry, and trigonometry in tooling fabrication
Ensure tooling meets all specifications for fit, finish, and function
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to develop tooling solutions
Recommend improvements to tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes
Maintain detailed records of tooling dimensions, repairs, and revisions
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure all tooling meets AS9100 standards and customer requirements
Inspect completed tooling for accuracy, quality, and readiness
Maintain high standards of safety, precision, and organization in the toolroom
Manage tooling inventory, storage, and traceability
Monitor tool wear and proactively communicate repair or replacement needs
Support inventory planning and coordinate with external vendors as needed
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker or precision tooling specialist
Strong knowledge of tooling fabrication, repair, and maintenance
Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement
Strong mathematical skills, including geometry, trigonometry, and tolerance analysis
Hands-on experience with manual machining equipment
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Technical certification or Associate degree in Tooling, Machining, or Manufacturing Technology
Experience in aerospace, fastener manufacturing, or other precision industries
Familiarity with CNC machining, forging, thread rolling, and grinding processes
Experience with CAD/CAM or tooling design software
Pay Details: $38.00 to $55.00 per hour
