Job Overview
The LPN works under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional to participate in patient care commensurate with their scope of practice.
Scope of Practice- Perform basic nursing care to patients following established standards and procedures.
- May perform specific nursing care as related to specialty of the practice.
- Collect patient data such as vital signs and observe and report patient status and responses.
- Prepare and administer injections, perform routine tests, treat wounds, and change bandages.
- Prepare patient records using established medical record forms, automated systems, and documentation practices.
- Administer medications within scope of license and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
- Participate in implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state regulations.
- Convey information to patients and families about health status, maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Participate in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood draws, and laboratory testing.
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program.
- Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Additional specialty certifications, if applicable; IV experience may be required.
- One year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
- One year specialty clinic experience.
- Regular attendance on site during scheduled business hours or shifts.
- Knowledge of basic nursing processes and understanding of healthcare technology, equipment, and supplies.
- Familiarity with state nursing laws, practice guidelines, and clinic policies.
- Effective communication with staff, patients, and families.
- Sound judgment and composure in emergency situations.
- Positive, caring attitude toward patients.
- Strong work ethic and professionalism.
- Ability to observe and interpret patient information and manipulate equipment accurately.
- Physical capability to lift, transfer, and assist patients, and to maneuver equipment such as gurneys, with frequent lifting of items of varying weight.
- Location:
Holy Rosary Hospital, Miles City, Montana. - Scheduled weekly hours: 36.
- Hourly rate: $26.47 – $40.87 (dependent on experience).
