Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality team. As part of this team, The Calibration Technician will be the focal point for all Tool Calibrations for our Marina location. You will perform and coordinate tool calibration and repair on a wide variety of tooling and test equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tool calibration methodologies, calibration standards, and NIST standards.
This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and internal stakeholders. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands‑on individuals, operating in a very fast‑paced and rewarding environment. - Maintain primary and/or intrinsic calibration standards.
- Maintain secondary and/or working calibration standards.
- Complete tests, calibration, and upgrades to precision equipment.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment.
- Assist in developing calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements.
- Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.
- Identify Instruments, Measurements & Test Equipment out‑of‑tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
- Identify and correct measurement errors, as applicable.
- Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
- Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurement tasks for which they are not principally used.
- Assist in performing uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of calibration experience some of which can be offset with formal metrology training.
- Must be able to perform general math and algebra functions.
- Understanding of Basic Statistics.
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
- Technical writing ability.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Quality Management systems (AS 9100, ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
- Must be a self‑motivator, work as a team player, and follow written procedures.
- Must have great interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Meet standards by following required production and quality requirements.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
- Must successfully pass a baseline visual acuity and color blindness examination prior to hire and pass regular re‑examinations (with or without corrective lenses) to maintain employment in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and AS9100 standards.

- Must possess and maintain the ability to clearly distinguish fine details, read precision measurement equipment, and accurately identify color‑coded materials.
