Position Summary

The Mining Apprentice Electrician assists Journeyman Electricians and Foremen in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems within active mining and industrial environments. This position provides hands‑on training while developing the skills required to safely perform electrical work in surface and underground mine facilities, processing plants, conveyor systems, substations, MCCs, and related infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities
  • Observe, learn, and demonstrate electrical skills under the direction of qualified Journeyman Electricians and Foremen.
  • Assist with installation of conduit, cable tray, wiring systems, grounding systems, and electrical equipment used in mining operations.
  • Support maintenance and repair activities on motors, conveyors, crushers, pumps, MCCs, switch gear, substations, and process equipment.
  • Perform material handling, equipment staging, and jobsite preparation activities.
  • Read and interpret basic drawings, blueprints, schematics, and installation instructions as training progresses.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, test instruments, and specialty electrical equipment safely and properly.
  • Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO), job hazard analysis (JHA), pre-task planning, and safety meetings.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical systems and identifying equipment deficiencies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while supporting site housekeeping expectations.
  • Work safely in industrial and mining environments while adhering to company, client, MSHA, and site‑specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain professional conduct while representing Loenbro on customer sites.
  • Maintain good standing and satisfactory progress in an approved apprenticeship program.
Required Qualifications
  • 1–4 years of electrical construction, industrial, or mining experience preferred.
  • Enrollment in or willingness to participate in an approved electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory, tools, and construction methods.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally.
  • Ability to pass all site‑specific training, background checks, and drug screening requirements.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Work performed in active mining, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and dust.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and around heavy equipment when required.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, FR clothing, and fall protection as applicable.
  • Compliance with all Loenbro EH&S policies, client requirements, and applicable MSHA regulations.
