Position: Peer Support Specialist I

Peer Support Specialist I

Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Shift Details: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday | 7:00 pm - 7:30 am | Availability for court hearings as a witness when listed on a petition.

Work Location: Recovery Response Center;
Peoria, AZ

Salary/Hourly Wage: $22.50/hour

Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, yielding Certification as a Peer Support Specialist.

Job Summary: The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in creating a recovery environment, and advocates for the rights and needs of each individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest Care & Advocacy
    • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
    • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
    • Models hope, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained.
    • Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
    • Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and meaning and purpose).
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Completes clinical documentation as required.
    • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they exist and as they change.
    • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as set out in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
    • Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
  • Additional Duties
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Education / Licenses
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, yielding Certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Experience
    • Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
  • Skills
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Ability to pass de-escalation training as required by state.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy if driving is required for the position.
    • If not qualified to drive, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless located in a state with a different minimum age requirement.
  • Travel may be required based on business need.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism.
  • Second-chance

    Employer:

    Must pass a seven-year background check, substance-abuse testing (if applicable), obtain designated fingerprinting clearance, pass education verification, and pass a three-year motor vehicle report if driving is required.
