Job SummaryThe Business Manager III assists in directing the activities of the Department, including establishing goals, hiring, training personnel, overseeing purchasing, preparing work schedules, developing and implementing new plans and procedures. The Business Manager III is responsible for preparing, administering, and controlling budgets, supervising contracts and expenditures, reviewing reports, maintaining records, and preparing correspondence. The Business Manager III also helps prepare documentation to comply with accreditation bodies.
Responsibilities- Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions, and working meetings.
- Document, recommend, and effect discipline at all levels; work closely with labor relations and/or labor counsel to enforce applicable CBAs; initiate, authorize, and complete disciplinary action pursuant to CCH system rules and policies.
- Direct and effectuate CCH management policies and practices; access and navigate CCH records system to obtain and review necessary information.
- Contribute to the management of CCH staff and systemic development; discuss and develop CCH system policies and procedures; use independent judgment to identify staffing issues and perform functions such as hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, direct or discipline employees in accordance with CBAs.
- Work with Labor Relations to discern past practice when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct the daily operations of the Department.
- Supervise and coordinate, personally or via designees, clerical staff activities.
- Assist in formulating and updating departmental policies and procedures.
- Create and review personnel reports and coordinate actions to remedy deficiencies.
- Prepare budgets and conduct special financial studies.
- Review and adjust purchase requisitions and internal purchase requests; recommend modifications of items or suppliers as needed.
- Work with the department to create, negotiate, and manage contractual agreements with outside institutions.
- Confers with top administrative officials of the department to resolve personnel or policy issues.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) years of full‑time administrative experience in a hospital or health‑care setting OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with five (5) years’ full‑time administrative experience in such a role (official transcripts required at interview).
- One (1) year of full‑time supervisory or managerial work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Degrees awarded outside the U.S. must be credentialed by an approved U.S. evaluation service and presented at interview.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
