Overview
IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., seeks a Field Technician to join our Peoria, IL team. The position entails performing routine tasks under the supervision of the Construction Manager, with on-site field observations, measurements, and documentation as part of construction projects.
Responsibilities- Basic field inspection, testing, and documentation
- On-site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt
- Attend training to achieve various certifications
- Operate company vehicles
- Maintain equipment and vehicles
- Observe safety and security procedures
- Serve as a construction observer on projects as assigned
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings
- Mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Ability to read a tape measure in fractions and tenths
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions with practical understanding
- Team player with professional conduct
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier
- Advanced/proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to travel up to a specified percentage with occasional overnight stays
- Associates degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
- Prior experience in building design consulting or construction industry preferred
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
Salary Range: $50,000 – $83,000. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Pay is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
