Construction Superintendent

Founded in 1984, BEAR Construction Company is a family-owned General Contracting and Construction Management firm located in Chicagoland, completing work throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition to our 100+ full-time professionals, we also employ a large team of union carpenters, laborers, and painters.

BEAR Construction is seeking a Superintendent to work closely with all project team members and supervise trade employees. Our Superintendents must be highly organized, communicate effectively, collaborate with teams, and ensure projects are completed efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and manage project schedules, lookaheads, and phasing to ensure timely completion.
• Supervise field staff, subcontractors, and vendors, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, and manpower to support project needs while tracking inventory.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and quality standards.
• Monitor project progress, resolve on-site issues, and communicate updates or conflicts to internal teams.
• Manage project documentation, inspections, budgets, and costs to ensure profitability.
• Collaborate with internal teams, engineers, building management, and external stakeholders to meet project goals.

• Union card holder or non-union candidate
• Previous experience as a construction superintendent or similar role
• Field experience, trade school, or college degree (Construction Management/Engineering preferred)
• Knowledge of local safety, health, and quality guidelines for construction job sites
• In-depth understanding of construction operations, processes, and phase coding
• Familiarity with mobile software and proficiency in MS Office
• Strong organizational, time-management, and leadership skills
• OSHA 30 certification
