- Perform asphalt testing and analysis at asphalt plants and jobsites.
- Perform volumetric testing for multiple mixes utilized on a daily basis.
- Deliver samples to appropriate agencies.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with agencies, plant, and site personnel.
- Submit daily production reports utilizing appropriate software.
- Perform some service, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field testing equipment on a timely basis.
- Maintain the lab in a neat and professional manner.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- HS diploma or equivalent (GED) with minimum of 2 years’ experience in an asphalt QC role required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages relevant to the position.
- Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, and dependable, with a good attendance record.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and get along well with others.
- Strong organizational skills with focus on prioritization of workload.
- Experience with asphalt lab equipment.
- Knowledge of paving process.
- Possess good mathematical skills
- Illinois DOT Aggregate Technician Certificate, HMA Level 1 and/or HMA Level 2, or the ability to obtain within 3 months.
- Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to meet customer needs.
Working in both a lab environment along with outdoor job sites. Lab environment in standalone building that is climate controlled. Outdoor job sites will experience various weather conditions including extreme heat.
Physical requirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. Position requires prolonged sitting and reaching, standing and lifting.
