POSITION SUMMARY:
The Physician Informatics Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of clinical information systems that assist clinicians in the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality patient care. This individual serves as an advocate in promoting the use of information technology in the clinical setting. Works in partnership with IT staff to translate clinician requirements into specifications for new clinical systems specifically but not totally inclusive of development, deployment, and maintenance of the following: order sets, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), and multiple facets of clinical decision support and clinical business intelligence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate
- Other Licenses/Certifications M.D. or D.O. (Illinois physician license)
- 5 years of clinical experience
Other skills/knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses a good grasp of clinical workflow in inpatient, outpatient or both settings and has an interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.
- Is an effective leader with a mature sense of priorities and practical experience who can design and implement systems within the framework of technical boundaries.
- Has a strong collaborative interpersonal style, a creative thinker with high energy and enthusiasm, and a person who promotes teamwork concepts.
- Understands major trends in healthcare and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools
