The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics to enhance a growing division. The position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/oncology Fellowship. The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and will hold or have applied for an Illinois physician's license.
The position includes care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed at the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood disorder Institute. The individual hired to this position will:
1) See referral hematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region. Interest in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma is desired as one of the main roles is to assist in caring for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.
2) Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
3) Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
4) Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols offered through our affiliation with the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children's Oncology Group (COG) consortium.

* Interest in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma is desired as one of the main roles is to assist in caring for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.
* See referral hematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.
* Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
* Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
* Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, and the Children's Oncology Group (COG). This clinic is both a St Jude affiliate as well as active COG site.
* Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.
* Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
* Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
* 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
* MD/DO or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
* Interest and experience in Leukemia/lymphoma is desired.
