Position SummaryThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics to enhance a growing division. The position includes care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood disorder Institute.
Duties & Responsibilities- See referral hematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.
- Interest in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma is desired as one of the main roles is to assist in caring for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.
- Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
- Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
- Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). This clinic is both a St. Jude affiliate as well as active COG site.
- Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
- Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
- MD/DO or equivalent.
- Interest and experience in Leukemia/lymphoma is desired.
UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country. The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments collaboration with the OSF Health Care Children’s Hospital of Illinois, the Department has 19 divisions and over 145 faculty members providing general pediatrics and subspecialty services to the pediatric population in Central Illinois.
The current research infrastructure within the Department includes an office of research, a dedicated biostatistician and an internal research funding mechanism to support our faculty.
