Our Preschool Support Teacher brings warmth, patience, and creativity to their classroom everyday. Preschool Support Teachers are responsible for encouraging children’s development. They are committed to building meaningful relationships with children, families, and preschool staff. Preschool Support Teachers are dedicated to making our center successful. The Preschool Support Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing Christian environment for the preschool children.

Our Preschool Support Teacher offers love and patience to children. Preschool Support Teachers follow lesson plans established by Preschool Lead Teachers.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Cooperate with the Director and Executive Team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the Preschool.
  • Establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment that supports the growth and development of Preschool children.
  • Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate daily activities for children.
  • Follow written lesson plans according to the schedule established.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • Be responsible for written communication to parents: notes, newsletters, and end-of-year written reports on children: conduct Parent and Teacher conferences.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of child care and activities.
  • Establish a safe and healthy nurturing environment for children.
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Display teaching excellence for other staff; role model, share professional and technical information
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
  • Plan a program as required by the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services licensing standards.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance records.
  • Keep parents and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, faculty meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
  • Inform the Director/Executive Team in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or Development
  • Previous experience working with preschoolers
  • Knowledge of preschooler development and care
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
  • Patience and ability to handle high-stress situations
  • Experience working in a licensed child care facility
  • Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education curriculum
  • Excellent communication and written skills
