Interpret for hearing impaired students that have mainstreamed into regular classes

• Interpret the spoken message to the hearing impaired student at his/her level of language comprehension via sign language and finger spelling or translate VERBATIM via signing and finger spelling.
• Reverse interpret (voice) messages signed by the hearing impaired student.
• Assist in communication between the regular classroom teacher and special education personnel.
• Complete student monitoring sheets as requested.
• Attend meetings and participate in in-service education programs for full time employees.
• Participate in workshops for the hearing impaired students and/or school personnel regarding the role of the interpreter as needed.
• Participate in parent conferences and staffings as requested.
• Understand and follow program guidelines for educational interpreters.
• Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Hearing Impaired Department Chairman and/or Hearing Impaired Teacher.

Salary based on education and experience based on the collective bargaining agreement.
