Job Description

Career Peer Advisor Internship Application - Spring 2026 (with the potential to continue until you graduate)

The Smith Career Center is seeking TWO Career Peer Advisors for the following colleges:
Business and Engineering. All majors will be considered, but we prefer candidates from the college(s) we are hiring for.

Purpose of the Career Peer Advisor Program:
To support the Smith Career Center (SCC) staff with student and employer outreach while assisting students with career development practices (i.e., resume building, job search strategies, etc.)

  • Collaborate with staff to implement college-specific initiatives

Required Qualifications by Spring 2026:
  • Bradley University undergraduate with at least 30 credit hours by January 2026
  • Enrolled full-time with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Able to work in this position for at least 2 consecutive semesters; 4+ semesters preferred
  • Uphold confidentiality and integrity regarding student records/client information
  • Register to drive Bradley vans once completing 60 credit hours (can do upon hire)
  • Required to register this experience with the Smith Career Center/ELTag course
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds, set up events across campus, and a flexible schedule to assist with programming
Desired Knowledge, Qualities, and

Skills:
  • Relevant experience demonstrating ability to advise and support students and team members
  • Be able to consult with students one-on-one during weekly drop-in hours
  • Prior experience with event planning, presenting, and administrative duties
  • Motivated, able to work independently and creatively seek solutions as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills
  • Proficient in basic computer systems; ability to learn specialized software
  • Professional, prompt, and reliable; committed to the internship and SCC mission
  • Positive attitude and desire to help others; respectful and tactful with good team spirit
Time Commitment:
  • Work a minimum of 6-8 hours per week in the office (8am-5pm); occasional required evening and weekend hours

    * Hours subject to SCC needs and university requests

    • 4+ hours weekly:
      Drop-In Hours
    • 1 hour weekly: SCC meetings
    • 1-2 hours weekly:
      Preparation time, presentations, outreach events
    • Additional hours as needed when presentations or other events arise
  • You must be available for training projected to be scheduled for January 2026.
Compensation: $11.00 per hour
