Overview

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher Assistant. The role supports the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of students as directed by Special Education teachers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist students with specialized needs to achieve academic and personal goals.
  • Apply general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations.
  • Support students in meeting behavioral expectations and health/hygiene routines.
  • Collaborate with Special Education teachers to implement individualized education plans.
  • Assist with lifting and moving students, up to 30 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Qualifications
  • Desire to assist students with specialized needs and a commitment to their success.
  • Knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of best practices for working with children and young adults with specialized needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds without assistance or up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary of $21.25 per hour.

Benefits include participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan, a typical thirty-five hour work week, medical and dental insurance with a 75% board-paid contribution toward premiums, and a work calendar with 12 paid holidays and breaks during winter, spring, and summer.
