Demo Operator Instructor

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Demo Operator Instructor for our Operations & Maintenance team in Edwards, IL. Typical work schedule is first shift; hours may vary based on needs of the business. Overtime may be required to meet critical business demand.

• Conduct product demonstrations and narration, safety, operation, and application training for Caterpillar equipment to customers, dealers, internal personnel, and varied audiences.
• Demonstrate Caterpillar equipment at the facility and off‑site, executing demo sequences at a superior level during high‑pressure situations while narrating.
• Contribute as a design team member to current and new demonstrations.
• Provide hands‑on training related to machine operation, application, job efficiency, and safety at the Demonstration and Learning Centers or off‑site locations.
• Participate in the certification process for dealer demonstrator instructors to the level of Certified Dealer Instructors.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to the Equipment Training Solutions curriculum developers to keep materials up to date.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to the development, evaluation, and promotion of the Caterpillar Training Simulators.
• Evaluate customer job sites to maximize machine application and operation efficiency, recommend modifications and improvements, and provide Voice of the Customer input to business units.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of job studies on all models of Caterpillar and competitive products, compile, analyze, and present data to customers, dealers, or internal business partners.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to dealer sales force and Caterpillar Field Reps during events, at the Demonstration and Learning Centers, and during customer visits.
• Support industry trade shows and new machine deliveries; promote and support Demonstration and Learning Centers.
• Maintain professional demeanor and safety standards; manage on‑site fleet and assist in machine orders.

• Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
• Uphold Caterpillar safety standards both onsite and offsite.
• Communicate and work effectively with customers, dealers, and internal partners from diverse backgrounds.

• 8+ years of operator experience in heavy construction, quarry/aggregates, and/or mining industries.
• Experience working with Caterpillar products and their application.
• Experience operating multiple product families (at least four or more).
• Basic computer skills.
• Fluency in English.

• Ability to develop required skills on remaining product families as determined by Caterpillar Equipment Training Solutions standards.
• Experience communicating with individuals at multiple levels of seniority and diffusing high‑pressure situations.
• Experience professionally delivering presentations in classroom and field settings.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Willingness to obtain a CDL and a valid US Passport within the first year of working.

$38.00 per hour (actual compensation may vary).
