The America Reads Tutoring Program is currently accepting applications throughout the academic year. This program combines community service, rewarding work experience, and a chance to make a difference in future generations. The America Reads Program aims to help elementary aged children (ages K-8) learn to read independently through small group and one-on-one tutoring sessions.
- Successful tutors may continue employment through the spring and subsequent years, if eligible.
- All tutoring is completed by 7:30 pm
Monday - Thursday, Afternoon/Evenings, 2-9 hours/week
Key Responsibilities- Working in small groups/one-on-one with elementary aged children to improve literacy skills
- Adapting to children's support needs
- Providing guidance to children for their areas of focus
- Observing improvement/progress of children
- Minimum availability of 2 shifts per week
- Full-time Student at Bradley University
- Work-study eligible
- Prior experience in youth tutoring is preferred but not required
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Patience
- Positivity
