Keep precise records of Methodist College students' academic progress
Meet regularly with students and provide feedback and guidance toward successful degree completion
Assist students with course registration
Serve as advisor for students during their first term
Communicate institutional graduation standards
Assign students to faculty advisors when required by the department
Schedule regular meetings with advisees
Empower students to develop academic plans and support adjustments when needed
Collaborate throughout the campus community to support student and department development
Participate in multi-departmental orientation planning and post-orientation evaluation
Coordinate learning experiences for advising students during New Student Orientation
Follow up with new students for registration as needed
Serve as contact for students on the midterm warning list, advise on grades needed to progress, and share support resources
Refer students to other resources as needed

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree listed in the qualifications section
  • Demonstrate understanding and familiarity with paths to degree attainment for all degrees offered at Methodist College
  • Ability to assist students with course registration
  • Ability to effectively communicate institutional standards required for graduation
  • Ability to keep precise records of student coursework
  • Ability to schedule regular meetings with advisees
  • Ability to develop academic plans and support adjustments to those plans
  • Ability to collaborate throughout the campus community
  • Ability to participate in orientation planning and evaluation
  • Ability to coordinate learning experiences during New Student Orientation
  • Ability to advise students on midterm warning lists and refer them to support resources
