Job Title
The purpose of this position is to perform technical engineering tasks to ensure public safety and quality infrastructure.

Minimum RequirementsAssociate degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school; valid State Driver's License; and, five or more years of progressively related experience required. Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.
Important AttributesKnowledge of basic principles and practices of construction and/or traffic engineering and of computer aided drafting (CAD), global positioning system (GPS) and geographic information system (GIS) hardware and software; recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques; basic construction and/or traffic data collection tools and equipment and sewer televising equipment and software. Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within closely defined established guidelines;
using a computer terminal to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information; using mathematics, including, algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; and preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and construction plans and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Requirements
Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, work near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, extreme cold, extreme heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Working time may require irregular hours and shift times. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet but may be loud when working in the field.

Medical/Dental/Vision InsuranceCoverage is effective the first day of the next month following completion of one full calendar month of employment. Members may opt out of the City's insurance program with proof of other coverage, coverage for your dependents is optional. The City of Peoria offers two options for medical insurance, a low-deductible and a high-deductible plan. Depending on your medical plan selection, you may also enroll in the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) program.
The City also offers Dental and Vision insurance. Your insurance premiums will be deducted from your payroll check. The total premium amount will be based on your elections and payroll frequency. On your hire date, you will meet with the City's Benefits Administrator to receive detailed information on the plans and ask any questions you may have regarding the insurance.
