Position: Electrical and Automation Design Engineer
Location: Peoria, or Chicago, IL

Role OverviewThe Electrical and Automation Design Engineer is primarily responsible for designing electrical power distribution and technology improvements for municipalities in water/wastewater facilities. The role includes Consulting Engineering and Integration Design.
Responsibilities- Report to E&A Design Director for work responsibilities, scheduling, and quality control.
- Design electrical distribution systems, including one-line diagrams, plan drawings, panel schedules, and equipment elevations.
- Prepare project specifications for electrical, instrumentation, and process controls.
- Prepare Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Prepare detailed control panel wiring schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, communication diagrams, etc.
- Prepare instrumentation and control system submittal packages.
- Design automation, controls, and related SCADA systems for water/wastewater processes, including communications, PLC architecture, instrumentation, and related software and hardware.
- Work with the E&A Design Director to periodically review and update design standards to maintain compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and good engineering practices.
- Occasionally visit client sites to investigate existing field conditions as needed for design documents.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- 4+ years’ experience in electrical design.
- Advanced computer skills, literacy, and proficiency.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Effective oral, written, and digital communication skills.
- Able to easily interact with other design staff.
- Organizational skills for productive tasks and time management.
- Ability to identify and solve problems promptly.
- Autodesk Revit experience.
- Visio experience or willingness to be trained.
- SKM or other electrical study software experience.
- P.E. license or EIT certification working toward a P.E. license.
Pay range: $85,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation packages are based on factors including skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
