We're partnering with an internationally respected engineering and consulting organization that is experiencing significant growth within its forensic and specialty engineering division. This is a rare opportunity for an established engineer to join a market-leading team, work on complex and high-profile assignments, and play a key role in shaping the future growth of an already successful regional practice.
What You'll Do- Lead forensic investigations involving structural failures, construction defects, building performance issues, and damage assessments
- Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and detailed engineering analyses
- Develop repair recommendations and structural solutions for existing buildings and infrastructure
- Prepare technical reports, expert opinions, and supporting documentation for clients, legal teams, insurers, and other stakeholders
- Provide litigation support and contribute to expert witness engagements
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and legal professionals throughout the investigation process
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional technical standards
- Support business development efforts and strengthen existing client relationships
- Help expand the firm's presence in the Illinois market through the development and growth of a book of business
- 10+ years of experience in Structural Engineering, Forensic Engineering, or Building Diagnostics
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required;
Master's Degree preferred - Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois required
- Strong experience performing structural analysis, design, and field investigations
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and structural analysis software; BIM experience is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting litigation matters and expert witness services is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships and generate new business opportunities
- Existing client network or book of business strongly preferred
