Structural Project Engineer
Location:
Chicago, IL office – three days on site and two days remote.
- Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations for bridge rehabilitation and design projects.
- Prepare and review finite element analysis models.
- Prepare and review bridge load rating reports to DOT standards.
- Prepare, compile and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items in accordance with DOT standards.
- Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans, assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work.
- Coordinate the above tasks with the Project/Technical Manager.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required. M.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline preferred.
- PE License preferred.
- SE License in Illinois or ability and plan to obtain.
- Minimum of 5 years of bridge inspection, analysis, load rating and/or design experience.
- Successful completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses is preferred but not required:
- Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges
- Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
- Experience working with IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA and/or Chicagoland local agencies preferred.
- Strong communication and client relation skills.
- Progressive experience with developing design drawings and utilizing Micro Station and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
- Ability to perform complex analysis and design.
- Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Illinois Pay Range: $104,000—$124,000 USD.
