Engine Controls Systems Engineer – MATLAB​/Simulink

Some engineers work with controls. Others develop the strategies that determine how complex engine systems perform in the real world.

We are assisting our client in the search for an Engine Controls Systems Engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems at the intersection of engines, control systems, and simulation. Seeking an Engine Control Systems Engineer with expertise in engine controls, simulation, and model-based design. This role utilizes MATLAB/Simulink and GT-Power to develop and validate control strategies for large engine applications.

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on the design, development, troubleshooting, and validation of advanced engine control strategies. You’ll support the complete product lifecycle — from new technology development through optimization and support of established engine platforms.

• Developing and validating engine control strategies using model‑based design methodologies
• Building, analyzing, and optimizing engine simulation models using MATLAB, Simulink, and GT‑Power
• Applying control theory principles to solve complex engine performance and emissions challenges
• Supporting Model‑in‑the‑Loop (MiL) simulation and on‑engine testing activities
• Troubleshooting complex system behaviour through data analysis, simulation, and engineering problem solving
• Collaborating with engineering teams to refine requirements, validate solutions, and improve product performance
• Supporting both new product development and existing engine platforms throughout the product lifecycle

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline with hands‑on engine controls experience
• OR
• Master’s degree with a specialization in control systems, including relevant thesis/research work

• MATLAB & Simulink
• Model‑Based Design (MBD)
• Dynamic systems / control theory
• Engine simulation, testing, troubleshooting, and validation
