About the Role
The ideal candidate is a results-driven project leader with deep technical expertise in manufacturing operations, packaging automation, chemical formulation, and regulatory compliance. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across cross-functional teams and external partners, along with the ability to manage complex projects, navigate ambiguity, and balance competing priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Lead multiple capital projects simultaneously while ensuring alignment with operational objectives and long-term business strategy.
- Develop project scopes, technical specifications, equipment requirements, facility layouts, and execution plans in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) from concept through project closeout, including budgeting, ROI analysis, financial forecasting, purchase orders, and invoice tracking.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and manage external vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
- Analyze manufacturing capacity to support business growth, improve throughput, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee equipment procurement, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), installation, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles throughout project planning and execution.
- Provide engineering leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers and site teams.
- Lead validation protocols and process qualification activities for new and modified manufacturing systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible engineering experience in high-speed manufacturing environments (consumer packaged goods experience preferred; bottle filling experience is a plus).
- Proven success leading capital projects valued at $300K–$2M+ from concept through startup across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Strong knowledge of packaging automation, chemical batching, and liquid handling processes.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for facility layout development and equipment integration.
- Experience using project management software.
- Solid understanding of process validation, process safety, and regulatory compliance, including OSHA, EPA, and FDA requirements where applicable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Lean environment with changing priorities and ambiguity.
- Experience in consumer goods, personal care, food, or chemical manufacturing.
- Familiarity with PLC-based control systems.
- PMP certification or formal project management training is a plus.
Salary Range: $92,500 – $113,500. Compensation is based on experience, skills, education, and other relevant qualifications. A competitive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth are also offered.
