Job Summary

We are seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and validation of power electronics hardware used in medium-voltage and utility-scale power conversion systems. This hands-on role focuses on designing and troubleshooting gate driver boards, power boards, and related circuitry for high-power inverter and converter applications. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop reliable hardware solutions, perform laboratory validation, investigate product issues, and support product development from prototype through production.

Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, and troubleshoot power electronics hardware, including gate driver boards, power boards, interface circuits, protection circuits, and sensing circuits.
  • Develop schematics and review PCB layouts for high-voltage and high-current applications.
  • Select, qualify, and validate components such as IGBT and SiC power devices, isolated gate drivers, power supplies, and current sensors.
  • Develop and execute validation plans, including double pulse testing (DPT), switching characterization, thermal testing, fault testing, and hardware commissioning.
  • Perform laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, differential probes, current probes, thermal cameras, power analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze switching performance, current sharing, voltage overshoot, thermal behavior, and protection circuit performance.
  • Investigate hardware failures and perform root cause analysis for inverter, gate drive, and power module issues.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support prototype builds and product releases.
  • Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvements focused on manufacturability, reliability, and product quality.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, and support project milestones throughout the product development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics hardware development.
  • Hands-on experience with inverter, converter, motor drive, UPS, battery energy storage (BESS), or renewable energy systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IGBT and SiC power devices, gate driver design, power converter topologies, switching behavior, protection circuits, and thermal management.
  • Experience designing, debugging, and validating power electronics PCBs.
  • Proficiency using oscilloscopes and other high-speed measurement equipment.
  • Experience conducting laboratory testing and hardware validation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics.
  • Experience with medium-voltage power conversion systems.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, and Altium Designer.
  • Experience performing Double Pulse Testing (DPT).
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation, reliability engineering, DFMEA, and applicable industry standards.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, manufacturing, and production launches.
