PLATS & PLANS TECHNICIAN (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III)

Position Overview:

This position is accountable for assisting with the management, preparation and review of right-of-way plats, plans, legal descriptions, court exhibits, and related documents required for the acquisition and disposal of right-of-way for highway improvement projects.

Essential Functions:

Maintains accurate physical and digital records of right-of-way owned or controlled by the department. Searches various records to determine property ownership. Assists others in finding ROW information for construction and survey work. Assists with the management/preparation and review of ROW plats, plans, legal descriptions, Land Acquisition Status spreadsheets, and other related documents. Reviews the work of internal staff and consultants for accurate and conformance to state policies.

Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering; OR six years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical, organizational, and project coordination experience. Plats, plans, and legal description interpretation. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobats Pro, Micro Station, and File Explorer. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Research and investigative abilities. Analytical problem-solving and decision-making. Communication and interpersonal skills. Professional judgment and accountability.

Conditions of Employment:
Valid driver's license. Occasional district wide travel. Successful completion of a background screening. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
