Robotics Engineer

This Robotics Engineer role focuses on leading and optimizing a MIG welding robotic cell featuring ABB robots. You will design, program, and troubleshoot robotic welding processes to advance automation within a manufacturing environment, playing a key role in integrating robotics into production operations.

Responsibilities
  • Run and manage an entire MIG welding robotic cell that includes two ABB robots.
  • Develop and design the complete process for the robotic welding cell, from concept through implementation.
  • Program ABB robots for multi-pass MIG welding using RAPID and/or Robot Studio.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for the robotic cell, including diagnosing and resolving programming, process, and equipment issues.
  • Optimize welding paths, parameters, and sequences to improve quality, throughput, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and automation teams to integrate robotic welding into existing production processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to robotic automation and welding processes.
  • Work across multiple shifts as needed to ensure reliable operation and support for the robotic cell.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with ABB robotics systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming ABB robots using RAPID and/or Robot Studio.
  • Practical experience with multi-pass MIG welding processes in an automated or robotic setting.
  • Ability to design and develop complete robotic cell processes, including workflow and sequence of operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for robotic systems, welding processes, and automation equipment.
  • Willingness to work second or swing shifts to support coverage of multiple shifts for the robotic cell.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Fanuc robots or similar industrial robotic platforms.
  • Background in automation engineering or robotic integration within manufacturing operations.
  • Exposure to robotics or automation work with major industrial and manufacturing organizations.
  • Ability to lead and influence robotics integration projects and serve as a technical resource for automation initiatives.
Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing floor, working directly with an automated MIG welding cell and industrial robotics equipment. You will operate in a production environment where safety procedures, protective equipment, and attention to detail are essential. The position may involve a second or swing shift schedule, such as a noon to 8 PM shift, with final hours determined based on operational needs.

The environment is fast-paced and focused on continuous improvement, with opportunities to be a key contributor to the expansion of robotics within the manufacturing process.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
