We are seeking a Senior Advisor, Property Tax to join a growing tax organization and play a key role in property tax strategy, valuation analysis, planning, and advisory activities across a large, multi-state asset portfolio. This position will serve as an internal subject matter expert, partnering with tax leadership, project development teams, operations, and external advisors to evaluate property tax implications throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure and capital projects
This is a highly visible role focused on advisory work, valuation modeling, incentives, and strategic planning rather than traditional compliance and return preparation. The ideal candidate will bring deep property tax expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex valuation and assessment matters while influencing business decisions
Key Responsibilities- Lead property tax planning, valuation, and modeling initiatives across a large multi-state portfolio of assets and development projects
- Analyze property valuation methodologies, assessment approaches, and economic drivers impacting tax obligation
- Provide strategic guidance related to property tax appeals, incentives, abatements, credits, and discretionary tax benefits
- Partner with project development, finance, legal, and operations teams to evaluate tax implications of new and existing projects
- Manage relationships with external property tax consultants, valuation specialists, and law firms
- Represent the organization in discussions with state and local taxing authorities
- Review and challenge valuation assumptions and assessment methodologies to optimize tax outcomes
- Support both existing assets and new development projects, providing advisory guidance throughout the project life cycles
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology enhancements within the property tax function
- Lead special projects and drive initiatives independently with minimal oversight
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of multi-state property tax experience
- Strong understanding of Property valuation methodologies
- Valuation and financial modeling concepts
- Appeals strategy and advisory work
- Property tax incentives, abatements, and credits
- Experience working with large, complex property portfolios across multiple jurisdictions
- Ability to independently manage projects and provide strategic recommendations
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- CPA, CMI, JD, or similar professional designation
- SALT experience with significant property tax exposure
- Background in public accounting, consulting, valuation advisory, or industry
- Experience supporting businesses with substantial fixed assets and complex valuation challenges
