Position SummaryThis position manages advanced business responsibilities for the Department of Pediatrics, including budget development and supporting strategic fiscal planning. The Senior Business Manager executes business operations such as contracting, reporting generation, data analysis, and providing business insights, reporting to the Pediatrics Director of Administrative Operations.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provides specialized analysis, input, review, and reporting within the Department of Pediatrics with all contracts, primarily focusing on the Physician Service Agreement.
- Updates PSA exhibits, investigates deviations from the budget, and manages approved modifications.
- Recommends and implements changes to the PSA and pediatric financials.
- Collects data and computes the annual PSA Performance/Incentive plan.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly summary reports for all sections, including productivity reporting.
- Prepares and presents an anticipated annual budget, monitors expenses, and ensures appropriate account utilization.
- Partners with the Senior Research Specialist for post‑award financial analysis, grant purchasing, and post‑award monitoring.
- Monitors balances of all pediatric funds, identifies financial issues, and provides corrective recommendations.
- Submits monthly variable compensation to payroll.
- Oversees all pediatric contracts, both funded and unfunded, and ensures compliance with contract terms and coverage.
- Ensures invoices and purchase orders are processed and paid.
- Assists in planning events and other related duties as assigned.
- Collaborates with the Director of Administrative Operations & Fiscal Affairs to serve as a technical resource for departmental financial questions.
- Assists in developing departmental operational procedures, trains staff, and implements change.
- Participates in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, business administration, management, or a closely related field; or
- 3 years of experience in accounting, business administration, fiscal management, or a closely related field; or
- A combination of education and experience totaling 36 months, per conversion table: 30 semester hours = 1 year; 60 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree = 18 months; 90 semester hours = 2 years; alongside
- 2 years of experience in accounting, business administration, financial operations, fiscal management, or closely related experience, including 1 year at a supervisory or administrative level.
NOTE:
A master’s degree in a related area may substitute for 1 year of experience.
- Grant financial oversight experience.
- Health‑care financial or productivity reporting experience.
